Key financial support for higher education and vocational training: CVRF supports region residents in pursuit of their career goals.

Pursue Your Goals After High School

CVRF is committed to hiring from our communities for jobs located in our communities, the corporate office, and in the Bering Sea fleet. Higher education and training can be great preparation for those jobs. The Louis Bunyan Memorial Scholarship (LBMS) fund began in 1993 to aid CVRF residents pursuing higher education or certificate programs.

The amount of LBMS scholarship awards vary based on GPA and the number of classes being taken. The higher the applicant’s GPA, the greater chance they must qualify for the maximum funding available–$4,000 per semester. Awards are paid directly to the selected school and may be used to cover the cost of tuition, room and board, books, and required fees. In 2019, 112 individuals received scholarships and training awards totaling roughly $433,000. Residents currently enrolled in college or vocational school or those who plan to attend should apply for the Louis Bunyan Memorial Scholarship.

“Going to college made me realize that I am fortunate to be a part of a community that CVRF serves, because there aren’t a lot of businesses that support youth like Coastal Villages does. A big thank you to the CVRF Scholarship program for supporting me financially during all my time attending college. Without the help, I would not be where I am today.”
